Vessels of Honor

VESSELS OF HONOR

Mary Ann Wray (c) 2023

The Father calls us to be vessels of honor for His use; not tools to be bought and sold or used as weapons to destroy. He is the potter-we are the clay.

A tool can be bought by man and used as something that can do great damage or even kill, like a hammer or an axe. In the Old Covenant Jeremiah the prophet spoke of Israel as a weapon of war against her enemies. Under the New Covenant things have change. God refers to his servants as vessels and to love our enemies.

A vessel can only be used as a carrier and supplier of oil, water and wine to be poured out. It's contents do not come from itself; it comes from a particular source.

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit would make us vessels of honor for His use that will give Him all the glory!

“Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.”
2 Timothy 2: 20-21

"On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”(When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)"
John 7: 37-39
