Revelation 19:7 - 10
There’s
been a lot of push-back and controversy about the characterization of a
central figure with twelve other figures s surrounding her in drag at
the Olympics opening ceremony . Many people are taking the stand that it
was not a mockery of the Last Supper but was a mockery of Greek gods
and goddesses. I’m sorry, but I don’t buy it. There was a
characterization of a “central figure” - an obese woman, and 12 other
figures around the central figure (including a little child) who were
dressed as drag queens. I guess all this was just a mere coincidence. I
doubt they would’ve done a disrespectful characterization about
Mohammad. The Muslims wouldn’t stand for it, but we Christians are
afraid to speak out and speak up.
Regardless,
of the Olympics intent, I was tempted several times to take the post
down, because of the going back-and-forth about it but I realize now I
would be a shrinking violet if I did. God has not given us a spirit of
timidity, but of power love and a sound mind. But just know I have a
delete button and I’ll take down any comment that I feel is
disrespectful. It turns out the Olympics committee has removed the videos
about it and some sponsors have refused to continue to support the
summer games.
How
much do we really love Jesus? Do we like it when anyone mocks and
downplays the accomplishments of our child, spouse, dear friend or
loved one? How much more should this grieve us who love Jesus and see
the high price He paid to purchase our salvation. How much do we
appreciate what He accomplished for us on Calvary?
I
agree with other Christian’s assessment that the unsaved live in
darkness, and we can’t expect them to understand the gospel. However, I
believe this clearly crossed the line into blasphemy and it is all the
more reason why we need to pray for a spiritual awakening, not only in
America, but around the world. It is simply disrespectful at best.
Culture and Christianity used to co-exist without such blasphemy
happening. There was a mutual respect, but not anymore.
Another
thing that is concerning is that children see this and unless their
parents catch it and explain the truth to them, they won’t understand
the high price Jesus paid for our sins and become desensitized to what
God is grieved about.
The
Good News is that there is going to be a future Supper, but different
than the Last one. The Last Supper occurred the night before Jesus was
crucified for the sins of the World. There He shared His final meal with
His beloved Apostles, save the one who would betray Him.
The
next Supper will be Jesus as the central figure again but not as a Lamb
who would be slain for our sins, but the Victorious King of Kings and
Lord of Lords. He is coming back for His Bride without spot or wrinkle.
The beauty of it is that there is a standing open invitation for all
those who want to be part of it can be. There is no price or ticket
needed to enter this glorious celebration. There is only one condition.
It doesn't require your blood, your money or your good works. You must
RSVP.
Here is how you can RSVP to the open invitation of this King to come a glorious Wedding Supper of the Lamb…
"But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because,
if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For
there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is
Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10: 9-13
But
God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He
loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together
with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together,
and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that
in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in
His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God”Ephesians 2: 1-8
